Tennis Elbow PDF Print E-mail
Written by squashaddict

Tennis elbow also called Lateral epicondilytis is characterised by pain over the outer aspect of the elbow joint. This happens due to excessive use of muscles/tendons in the forearm which probably causes microtrauma2. The pathology is no longer thought to be inflammatory thus the "itis" in epicondilytis is a misnomer. The pathology is more accurately described as partially reversible but degnerative overuse-underuse tendinopathy5.

Episodes can last 6 months to 2 years but usually resolved within a year. Acute pain usually lasts less than 12 weeks and most people find over the counter pain killers give them adequate pain relief.

Selecting the right squash shoes PDF Print E-mail

In squash you have to change direction continously and quickly. This requires a shoes which apart from comfort spring/cushioning gives you stability.

Before selecting your squash shoe you need to find out whether you pronate or supinate your foot excessively.

Pronation in the foot occurs  when the ankle joint moves inwards. Supination of the foot occurs when the ankle joint moves out wards. The pictures should illustrate this better.

Squash Insoles PDF Print E-mail

Use the ascis gel sensi squash shoes which are great and very durable but the insoles tend to wear off quickly to be precise about 4 months of intense playing the insoles have holes in them.

I loved the shoes thus decided to replace the insoles.

Was looking for good quality insoles with plenty of cushioning designed for racket sports and reasonably priced.

There are quiet  a few around but the £30 plus price seemed excessive. I finally found the reasonably priced Bama Racket sport insoles availaible from the webiste below.
